Research area

Among his research interests, he is strongly passionate about Deep Learning, Bayesian Inference, Uncertainty Quantification and Reinforcement Learning.

Giacomo Arcieri has obtained his Bachelor's degree (2018) and Master's degree (2020) in Industrial Engineering, with honors, from Sapienza University of Rome. He wrote his Master Thesis at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in the field of model-based Reinforcement Learning. Moreover, he first gained professional experience as a Machine Learning Researcher at the KIT and subsequently at a Fintech start-up in Rome.

Giacomo has joined the SMM Chair to work on the REASSESS project, which forms a collaboration with the SBB, as well as the Chairs of Geosensors and Engineering Geodesy (Andreas Wieser) and Earth Observation and Remote Sensing (Othmar Frey) @ETHZ. He will focus on the development of a Reinforcement Learning framework for railway management exploiting data collected by a train-based Ground Penetrating Radar.
