Sophia Ganzeboom has received her B.Sc as well as her M.Sc in Materials Science from ETH Zurich. After her masters she worked two years as a project manager at ESM Foundation, a foundation focused on critical raw materials, where she managed the development of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on the sustainable management of critical raw materials.
She joined the Chair of Structural Mechanics and Monitoring as a PhD student as part of the Doctorate School ALIVE. Her research will focus on the integration of sensing/healing abilities in concrete structures by incorporating living organisms, such as mycelium with the goal of developing self-aware structures.
